NY Times "City's F.B.I. Chief Will Retire to Lead a Giuliani Company"

comment by Robert Lederman

Here's what I believe to be the key sentence in this article:

"After the September 2001 terror attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Mr. D'Amuro became the F.B.I. inspector in charge of the 9/11 investigation."

Giuliani has hired or compromised all the top officals who could testify against him in preparation for his Presidential run. His former protege', Michael Chertoff, now heads the Homeland Gestapo after his closest flunkie, Bernard Kerik, fell from grace. His FDNY Commissioner and most top staff members from the administration also work for Giuliani Partners. The real story of what happened on 911 is yet to be told and G has as much to hide about 911 as Bush does. "Hero" Giuliani was the only person to testify at the 911 hearings who was roundly booed by the audience of family members of those who died.

City's F.B.I. Chief Will Retire to Lead a Giuliani Company

March 22, 2005
By DAVID JOHNSTON

March 21 - Pasquale J. D'Amuro, head of the F.B.I.'s New York office and one of the bureau's leading terrorism experts, has announced that he is retiring to become chief executive of a security consulting company that is a division of Giuliani Partners L.L.C., the consulting company headed by former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani.

Mr. D'Amuro, 49, will become the top official at Giuliani Security and Safety L.L.C., on April 1.

After the September 2001 terror attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Mr. D'Amuro became the F.B.I. inspector in charge of the 9/11 investigation.

Later, he became the bureau's senior manager at its headquarters in charge of counterterrorism and counterintelligence. He supervised all field inquiries into threat reports and helped establish the Terrorist Threat Integration Center, a joint effort with the C.I.A. to improve federal assessment of terror threats.

Known within federal law enforcement circles as an aggressive investigator, Mr. D'Amuro was part of a new wave of F.B.I. officials who carried out the directives of the F.B.I. director, Robert S. Mueller III, to reorganize the bureau in an effort to prevent terror attacks.

Inside the bureau, Mr. D'Amuro was a popular figure among rank-and-file agents because he was a fierce advocate of the F.B.I. when other intelligence agencies and local police departments criticized the bureau's performance in advance of the attacks.

Giuliani Security and Safety was formerly known as Giuliani-Kerik L.L.C., which was renamed after Bernard B. Kerik, former police commissioner, resigned from his position with the company after the collapse of his nomination to be Homeland Security secretary.

As the head of the New York office of the F.B.I., the largest bureau field operation in the country, Mr. D'Amuro created the first Office of Intelligence to analyze and disseminate information generated by agents in New York.

Mr. D'Amuro joined the F.B.I. in 1979 and worked on criminal and counterterrorism investigations. In the 1990's, as the agent in charge of the counterterrorism branch of the New York office, he managed investigations of the East Africa embassy bombings in 1998, the millennium investigations in December 1999 and the attack on the United States Navy destroyer Cole in 2000.
